Provincial Volunteer Opportunities
A provincial volunteer works closer with the adults than the girls, contributing to the administrative side of our organization.
They have the opportunity to influence the direction of the Girl Guide movement in British Columbia by sharing their knowledge and experience.
It’s a rewarding and exciting opportunity for the volunteers who join the provincial level of the Girl Guides of Canada-Guides du Canada (GGC).
We are seeking nominations and applications for:
- Elected Member – BC Council
- Provincial Newsletter Editor
- Provincial iMIS Adviser - Provincial Membership Committee
- Lones Adviser – Provincial Program Committee
- STEM Adviser – Provincial Program Committee
- Active Living Adviser – Provincial Program Committee
- Arts Resource Guider – Provincial Program Committee
Elected Member – BC Council
BC Council is currently seeking applications for one Elected Member. Currently there are a total of three Elected Members that sit on BC Council. The purpose of an Elected Member is to provide a very valuable voice representing Unit Guiders at Provincial Council meetings. To qualify for this position applicants must be working currently as a Unit Guider.
An Elected Member is appointed for a three-year term and must be available to attend four weekend meetings (Friday to Sunday) each year.

Provincial Newsletter Editor
The Provincial Newsletter Editor sits on the BC Public Relations Committee and is responsible for overseeing four issues of Pipeline each year and coordinating the BC annual report. The editor is appointed for an initial term of three years and may be reappointed for an additional two years.
An individual applying for this position must be a current Member of Girl Guides of Canada and possess proven skills/experience in the following:
- Standards – willing to learn about, promote and comply with the Guide Style Guide, GGC Graphic Standards and current Canadian copyright guidelines.
- Computer skills – comfortable with e-mail; creating and reviewing documents; basic understanding of spreadsheets; a willingness to learn more. Note –the editor is not responsible for creating the layout of Pipeline—this is done by a professional graphic artist.
- Mentoring – encouraging committees and individuals to submit articles for the newsletter.
- Teamwork – working with members of editorial team on each newsletter issue and the annual report; collaborating with the provincial PR committee on a variety of projects such as job descriptions, press releases and conferences.

BC Provincial Membership Committee Openings
Provincial iMIS Adviser
The Provincial iMIS Adviser sits on the Membership Committee and is responsible for promoting the use of iMIS, encouraging and assisting iMIS users and advisers in BC. She must be an active Guiding Member, have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, have strong organizational skills, be self-motivating, have knowledge and experience in the structure and program of Girl Guides of Canada and have knowledge and experience with software such as Microsoft Office (Access, Excel) and database applications.

BC Provincial Program Committee Openings
Lones Adviser
The Provincial Lones Adviser is a member of the BC program committee. She is responsible for all BC Lones youth members’ registration and placement into Units. She is also a liaison with other provincial committees, area commissioners and program advisers.
As part of her position she submits and oversees articles to four issues of the Lones newsletter On My Own each year. She also submits articles to the BC Pipeline and FunFinder newsletters. This appointment is for an initial term of three years and may be reappointed for an additional two years.
An individual applying for this position must be a current Member of Girl Guides of Canada and possess proven skills/experience in the following:
- Computer: corresponding with e-mail; creating and reviewing Word/PDF documents; understanding Excel spreadsheets; willing to learn more.
- Program: understanding of the programs for all branch levels of Guiding.
- Standards: willing to learn and follow the Guide Style Guide, GGC Graphic Standard, and Canadian copyright guidelines.
- Financial: overseeing Lones budget and authorizing repayment of expenses from Units for submission to BC finance committee.
- Mentoring: supporting Guiders and girls in the Guiding program.
- Teamwork: working with the committee on their events and workshops, supporting Lones, and collaborating with the editorial teams.

She is appointed for an initial term of three years and may be reappointed for an additional two years.
