The British Columbia (BC) Council is made up of elected volunteers. Each position is a three year term with potential for a two year extension. No position is held longer than five years. The BC council meets monthly to support and develop our provincial Guiding.
Each area is headed by an Area Commissioner who automatically holds a seat on the BC Council. The Area Commissioners bring the voice of our membership to the council meetings.
BC is divided into 10 Guiding areas. Each area is responsible for electing a smaller council to govern its area. The Area Councils are made up of a

- Committee Advisers
The Committee Advisers represent the voice of their areas when working under their respective Provincial Committee.
The activities of the BC and Area councils are determined by the Girl Guides of Canada–Guides du Canada bylaws, POR, and Strategic Plan.
