Meet and Greet at Idaho Peak

On September 14, 2002 Pathfinders from Nakusp and Castlegar met in the Ghost Town of Sandon for a day of fun activities and to hike up Idaho Peak.

The day started at the Prospector's Pick store where they watched a brand new video about the history of Sandon. The group then toured the oldest operating generating station in BC. This electrical plant has been in service for over 100 years.

Then it was into the vehicles to make that long climb up Idaho Peak Forest Service Road. At road's end they found a place to park the vehicles and then started the 2 km hike to the lookout.

The view was spectacular and the fire burning in Valhalla Park was clearly visible.

Lunch was had on the heli-pad and then it was time for picture taking. 14 girls and 6 Guiders posed for pictures with the Guides Canada Flag .

Once back in Sandon everyone took in the Sandon Museum where theyhad the opportunity to look at many old artifacts and listen to an old phonograph.

After treats at the Prospector's Pick they traveled to Cody to explore what was left of this ghost town.

The day went quickly and it was time to head for home.
