What's the Missing Link?
New Caledonia Area Link's Geocaching Bike Trip
Did you know there is a core group of women aged 18 to 30 who are active members of Guiding? Did you know that most of these women are university students, or are just beginning their careers? Did you know that some of these women are Unit Guiders, hold positions at District, hold positions at Area and hold positions at Province? Who are they? LINK!!! Are you between the ages of 18 and 30, and not registered with Link? What is Link? I know what you're thinking, another position, more work. Not at all!!! Link is your escape from the volunteering and time spent with your peers doing the stuff you love. Love to hike, to camp, to cook, to throw tupperware parties? Call your Area Link Advisor and find out what activies are happening in your area.
Why, just last summer, New Caledonia Area Link Members participated in a bike ride. We gathered at Fort George Park in Prince George, BC. We hopped on the bicycles, strapped on the helmets and buttoned up our jackets ready to ride the bicycle trail. And to our surprise, Link Member Heather brought her GPS Unit with her. We stopped under the Fort George Bridge and Heather introduced us all to Geocaching. Geocaching is like treasure hunting. You program the coordinates into your GSP Unit and try to find the treasure left by another Geocacher. We didn't find the first Cache, but off we went to find two along our travels. Our final stop was infront of the Spruceland Fish Hatchery where we stopped for a photo. Then, back along the trail to Fort George Park. But, at the end of the trip, we weren't done. We decided to refuel with dessert at Grillin 'N Chillin. Mmmm, those chocolate cakes and cheesecakes were fabulous. The night passing, our bellies full, we were off home. What a great time!!!
