EVENT REPORT:

Let's Camp S'more at Camp Olave - October, 2007

On the weekend of Oct 26th to 28th, 2007 at Camp Olave on the beautiful Sunshine Coast we had 76 girls, 15 leaders, and 8 core staff attend Let’s Camp S’more. It was a jam packed weekend full of camp skills & fun. The girls & Guiders learned everything from knots for flag raising, to making tripods, fire safety & fire building, how to properly light a camp stove & lantern, putting up a tarps, dressing for camp, how to properly pitch & strike a tent, packing and waterproofing their bags, and making bedrolls. We also had a lot of fun introducing them to Geocaching, teaching them a few new wide games, making S’more men, playing a few rounds of camp bingo, and even having them do a night time orienteering course to earn their camp crests.

The participants cooked their lunches on buddy burners and also cooked their Saturday night dessert in a box oven (Yum, apple crisp a la box oven!). To finish off a busy day we had an all camp campfire and sang some new and classic campfire songs!  Fun was had by all, all the participants left with learning something new, and not to mention awesome resource booklets!

At this time I would like to thank my team Janine Chew, Allison Graham, Crystal Bewza, Emily Mitchell, Heather Toomer, Samantha Tchir & Angie Ramey for all their hard work and support.  The camp would not have been the success it was or as much fun without you!
