EVENT REPORT: Let's Camp S'more at Arbuckle - October, 2007 Camp was a great success with girls from all around the area attending, girls from Lake Country, Vernon, Enderby, and Revelstoke showed up to take part in the camping experience. Camp was kicked off on Friday night, and what a night it was: the girls started by making nametags for themselves, buddy burners, and tin-can stoves. The theme of “Lets Get Camping” created lots of noise and fun was had by all. Saturday morning came and spirits were high, a fire drill started the morning with a snap! The rest of the day was taken up by stations at which the girls learnt to pitch and take down tents, how to line the bottom of a tent with a tarp. The girls learned how to light stoves and lanterns and to tie the all-important knots; they also made personalised dish bags. Lunch was crazy as the girls found out that they were making their grilled cheese sandwiches on the buddy burners that they had made the previous night. To end off the perfect day, the whole camp assembled in a circle around the warm campfire to sings songs and chat all under the clear night sky, the girls also as a treat got some cake with their mug up….YUMM. Rise and shine on Sunday morning was eventful as the girls had yet another fire drill because the one the previous day was not so great, but this one was excellent. Good Job. Before the girls could go home, they had to clean up the rooms that they were staying in, and we had a camp question period, so whoever was unclear about camp could ask questions and evaluate this year's Let’s Camp S’more!
