| May 24 - 25, 2008 |
Guides Exploring Science and Technology (G.U.E.S.T.) is coming to the North! G.U.E.S.T. 2008 will be held in Prince George on May 24-25, 2008. This exciting event gives Guides a chance to visit a university campus and experiment with hands-on activities led by local scientists and engineers. Girls will meet role models and have loads of fun exploring science and technology. Participants: Patrols of 6 Guides and 2 Guiders from Districts in the New Caledonia, Northern Lights, and Peace River Areas. Applications will be accepted at the Provincial Office between February 1 and February 8, 2008. See the G.U.E.S.T. 2008 Patrol Application form for more details.

Trex Rendezvous 2008
Come and experience the high ropes course, climbing wall, mountain biking and more. This is the perfect weekend for the active girl, aged 12 to 17 years of age.
Challenge yourself and apply individually or as a patrol for this exciting adventure based weekend. Girls and Guiders can apply individually or as a patrol of one Guider to seven girls. DEADLINE: April 15, 08

PEI Pedal 2008 - A Cycle Tour of Prince Edward Island:
A cycle tour, sponsored by BC Council, along a route offering varied scenery and lifestyles - rolling hills, fishing villages, farmland, historical places, and beaches. Daily sightseeing and exploring to learn about the heritage and culture of PEI and its influence in Canadian history. A chance to enjoy a challenging sport and to be a good team member. Selections are complete and the selected applicants are already in training. |

Pacific Coast Experience IV - "Experience the Adventure"
Explore your wild side at Pacific Coast Experience (PCE) IV, an "introduction and taster" for wilderness adventure camping. This year PCE is welcoming both Senior Branches and Trex girls (age 16 or older at time of event) and Guiders. This event will allow participants to experience the basics of light-weight camping and offers an opportunity to explore BC by a variety of methods. Everyone will participate in core knowledge sessions including: navigation, leave no trace, lightweight camping, lightweight cooking and winter camping. In addition, participants will venture out on one taster trip choosing from adventure activity sessions including: canoe tripping, kayak tripping, novice backpacking, intermediate backpacking, road bike touring and trail bike touring.

Prerequisites: Everyone should have
- an enthusiasm for camping
- passion for the wilderness
- a zest for adventure
Guiders should have OAL Path or equivalent experience
Girls should have Pathfinder Silver Camping Emblem or equivalent experience
Cost: Canoeing or kayaking $150

Boots in Motion 2008 - Backpacking:
August 2008 - 8 days on the trail - Eight participants and two Guiders will experience an unforgettable adventurous backpacking trip along BC's spectacular West Coast Trail from Port Renfrew to Bamfield. Highlights will include beach camping, shipwrecks, waterfalls, suspension bridges, cable car crossings, lighthouses, sea caves, whales, sea lions, sea otters, tidal pools filled with sea life, and much more. Don't miss this exciting adventurous backpacking opportunity!

The Red Cross Global Symposium for Youth - Camp Howdee, Port Moody
Join 90 other BC youth at the 2008 Red Cross Global Symposium for Youth, and push your boundaries while exploring critical global issues. You will be actively involved in learning about human security, refugees, HIV/AIDS, landmines and human rights! Adventure to the Capitals - Ottawa to Washington, DC:
Travel to Ottawa to take part in Canada Day celebrations and see the popular sites in and around our capital city. Spend a day on Parliament Hill, visit important locations such as Rideau Hall and the National Museum. Then travel to Washington DC to take part in the July 4th celebrations. Visit such well known sites as the museums of the Smithsonian, the Washington Monument, and see the many sites around Washington. Participants: 8 girls, 13 to 15 years of age by the start of the event and 2 Guiders. See Fact Sheet for full details. |

Footsteps of the Founders 2008 - Pax Lodge, World Centre, London, England:
Meet new friends from many countries as well as see the popular sights of London. An exciting program following the footsteps of our founders Lord and Lady Baden-Powell. Visit the historical sights of Guiding and Scouting and learn how it all begun. Through your travels, retrace the early days of the Girl Guiding and Girl Scouting movement while leaving some footprints of your own! From camping at Brownsea Island to setting up camp at Foxlease. Discover Dominica Camp 2008 - Commonwealth of Dominca:
The Girl Guides Association of Dominica invite you to participate in their Discover Dominica Camp. An outdoor camping experience where you will meet new friends across cultural differences and share issues common to the worldwide Girl Guide movement. Take part in a local craft development and discover one of the most beautiful islands in the Caribbean. From Dominica's lush mountain peaks, to the many waterfalls and rivers, hike and explore a pristine tropical rainforest, and much more. African Safari, Kenya 2008:
An exciting adventure to the birthplace of mankind. Go on safari in one of Kenya's famous national parks - will you see a giraffe or a lion? Participate in a service project with the Kenyan Girl Guides Association! Visit Lord and Lady Baden-Powell's home and resting place in Nyeri, and find out where Queen Elizabeth learned she was a queen! Friendship Session 2008, Our Cabana - World Centre, Cuernavaca, Mexico:
Experience International Friendship, games, arts and crafts, swimming, singing and dancing, a Mexican Fiesta, workshops on current WAGGGS initiatives, an opportunity to participate in a service project with the local community, sightseeing and shopping trips to Cuernavaca, Taxco (a silver city) and a visit to the rural village of Tepoztlan where there is a traditional Mexican craft market and to the archaeological site of Xochicalco and a few days to explore Mexico City. WAGGGS Around the World seminar - Sangam 2009: Join with members of the world's largest organization for girls and young women as we celebrate World Thinking Day at the Sangam World Centre in India, February 13 - March 9, 2009.
This event is open to young adult Members between the ages of 18 and 30. Click here to download the event Fact Sheet. Note: The fundraising policy for young adults is to be the same as for adult-only trips. Adult Members are not allowed to fundraise for adult-only trips.
