AWARDS

BC GUIDERS ARE GREAT!

"Everyone likes to be recognized and appreciated for
making contributions to an organization"

Let's Recognize and Reward their work as often as possible.
There are four ways to do this:

FORMALLY:

Did you know you can nominate anyone for an award? Get in touch with your Commissioner or Awards Adviser. Commissioners and Awards Advisers, please use the R.3 (pdf) to apply for an award listed in the Guiding Essentials.

EXTERNALLY:

Other organizations recognize volunteers in your community... Check to see which Guider might fit the criteria. Your Awards Adviser has a list of opportunities. Your local paper may have a "Local Hero" column. BC Guiders ARE heroes.

INFORMALLY:

There are a number of ways to say, "You are valued and appreciated" using "warm fuzzies." Get in touch with your Area Awards Adviser. She has endless ideas about how to do "FUN", appropriate things to easily recognize Guiders' work; i.e.- tie a ribbon around a light bulb with a note saying, "you really have bright ideas... thanks", etc. Gifts are good too - see the Girl Guide catalogue or Guide Store for ideas!

INTRINSICALLY:

Talk about the wonderful memories Guiders are making for the girls as you do special events, how they are passing on life-long skills as they teach girls how to camp safely and how they are teaching character as they expect girls to keep promises, be reliable, be honest, etc.

BC GUIDERS REALLY ARE GREAT AND DESERVE TO BE CELEBRATED!
