guide resources

Activities for Guides are grouped into Pathways. Each Pathway is organized in three challenge levels. The program begins at the Encountering Challenge level, then moves on to the Exploring Challenge and the Discovering Challenge levels.

Pathways present Guides with the following challenges:

1. My Community

- understanding more about where they live
- finding out about Guiding around the world

2. My Outdoor Environment
- having fun outdoors (and going camping)
- find out more about nature
- learning to take care of yourself outdoors

3. My Horizons
- trying skills they will need in everyday life
- being able to do things by themselves, for example, planning social events, using a hammer, or making a meal

4. My Future
- doing things for themselves, such as being physically active, appreciating art and music, learning new crafts
- having the chance to be a leader and teach things to others

Incorporating science and technology into your unit meetings
It is important that we do not make our meetings seem like school, but there are many ways to incorporate science and technology into your meetings and at camp. Just think if they learn about the science of why things are at an early age, they will have that knowledge forever!!

If you need ideas, contact your local Program Adviser (ask your Commissioner) or email the BC Program Committee
