Pathfinders work on challenges to earn emblems. There are seven Emblems plus the Religion in Life Emblem: Be Prepared, Camping, Community, Home, Leadership, Outdoor, World. Each Emblem is further divided into Pathways. All, except the Be Prepared Emblem, are earned in three levels: Bronze, Silver and Gold.
Each level is earned by completing a certain number of challenges from each Pathway. There is a variety of challenges to choose from. Not all are of equal length, nor do they require equal effort. Some challenges are designed to be done in small groups, or by your whole Unit. Other challenges can be done by individual girls.
The Emblem for each level is distinguished by the colour of stitching around the edge. Only the Emblem for the highest level earned may be worn. For example, once the Silver is earned, the Bronze is no longer worn, but is replaced by the higher level Emblem; the Silver is replaced by the Gold when it is earned.
The Be Prepared Emblem is the exception. This Emblem is divided into three Pathways and each is worn on the sash as it is earned. The Arrowhead is added after all three Pathways are completed.

It is important that we do not make our meetings seem like school, but there are many ways to incorporate science and technology into your meetings and at camp. Just think; if they learn, at an early age, about the science of why things are the way they are, they will have that knowledge forever! Check out these ideas on how to Incorporate Science and Technology into Unit Meetings!
