Why we need to retain records and paperwork
To protect sensitive and private information, Girl Guides of Canada-Guides du Canada has established document retention guidelines. The safeguarding and destruction of personal information is laid out in legislation at both the national and provincial levels.
Units, districts and areas have specific instructions to follow on how to transfer their documents to the provincial office. The provincial office maintains the Document Retention Database, which tracks the content envelopes, its location and destruction date.
