Festivals and Special Spring Celebrations


The following days and holidays are from the book "Let's Celebrate." You can expand on these ideas by using any book about International holidays.

If your Area International Contact Adviser cannot help you, ask a teacher at your local school for any ideas they might have.

March 20 or 21 - Spring Equinox

March - Holi - this ancient East Indian festival is celebrated in March.

April 2 - is International Children's Book Day and the birthday of Hans Christian Anderson.

April 14 - Sri Lankan new year.

Easter - celebrated differently in many countries 3rd weekend in April - Iqalit , Nunavit - Inuit celebrate Toonik Tyme.

May 1 - May Day - pole dancing or Morris Dancing.

June - In Sweden the annual "Midsummer's Eve" celebration, held in late June, is one of Sweden's biggest holidays. Spring is celebrated with maypoles and dancing. Houses and churches are decorated with flowers.
