When resizing the logo on your computer, maintain the ratio between the width and the height. This will prevent a distorted, compressed, flattened or squished look.
It is possible, but not necessarily desirable, to do some very fancy things with the logo by applying different computerized effects. The important thing to remember is that in order to be effective, our logo must be used consistently, professionally, and clearly. It must be strongly identifiable. It must be presented in good taste. It must not be altered in any substantial way. The edges of the logo must remain clear and crisp. It must retain its proportions and an official configuration.
With these things in mind, it is acceptable to incorporate the following electronic effects in the logo:
-
give it an embossed look
-
give it a three dimensional appearance
-
give it a metallic appearance such as brushed gold or brass or silver
-
have it change from one solid colour to another solid colour
-
use it as on-screen computer wallpaper or as a watermark.
It is not acceptable to:
-
overlay it (except as on-screen computer wallpaper or as a watermark)
-
animate the logo
-
turn it into a cartoon character
-
produce it upside down or as a mirror image
-
produce it in more than one colour at a time (no rainbow effects; do not have the Trefoil in one colour and the signature in another).
