Service Projects

Being of Service in Guiding

The principles of our Movement include: developing personal values and respect for self and others; developing a sense of well-being; learning leadership skills; working with others; and achieving a sense of pride in accomplishment. All of these Guiding objectives (found in POR, under Philosophy) can be met through the principle of 'being of service'.

There are many projects throughout our province that partner BC Guiding with positive, like-minded people, businesses and other community or youth organizations. The idea is to find a service project that fits your group's interests and goals - and your time. Service projects can be either year-long in duration or they can be short, one-time projects or events. All Members in Guiding, from Sparks to Trefoil Guild, can participate in service projects.

Use your imagination, ask the girls and women in your group, and ask in your local communities, 'What can we do to help?' You may be surprised at the answers.

We have many ideas for service projects and opportunities (pdf) and detailed information on ideas below.
