GIRL GUIDE PROGRAMS

Girl Guide Programs: Today's Girls, Tomorrow's Leaders!

Guiding offers an all-female environment for girls aged 5-17+. In Guiding, girls form lifelong friendships while they practise teamwork skills, pushing their own limits to achieve the goals they've set for themselves. With the help of positive female role-models, they discover that they're capable of more than they ever dreamed. Guides Canada welcomes girls 5-18+ years old and women 19+ to be part of the following branches:

Sparks – For girls aged 5 and 6
The two-year program for Sparks is fun, experience-based and non-competitive, helping girls to develop confidence in their skills and abilities.

Brownies – For girls aged 7 and 8
Brownies encourages girls to explore their own interests and to contribute to their communities. We teach them the skills they need to manage their activities and achieve their goals.

Guides – For girls 9 – 11
The Guide program is designed to help girls develop their life skills through fun activities. Girls form friendships and learn to take responsibility as they work together with their leaders to plan their own activities.

Pathfinders – For girls aged 12 – 14
Pathfinders introduces girls to a range of new experiences that develop their leadership skills. Girls work in small groups or as a unit, enjoying increased opportunities for decision making.

Senior Branches – For girls aged 15 – 17+
Senior Branches offers girls three different options: Cadets, Junior Leaders or Rangers. Cadets and Junior Leaders develop practical leadership skills by assisting in units of younger girls. Rangers participate in activity-based programs that they organize themselves, while leaders act as resource people who help them to achieve their goals.

Lones – For girls aged 5 – 17+
Lones is for girls who are unable to attend regular unit meetings due to distance, health concerns, work, studies or physical challenges. Lones carry out their program through correspondence, online activities and events. A Guide leader helps to connect Lones to others in their area and to the greater Guiding community.

Extra-Ops
Extraordinary Options, or “Extra Ops”, are opportunities for girls with specialized interests to benefit from the unique and enriching experience that Guiding has to offer. They include GirlSport and Trex.

Trex (12+)
Trex opens exciting avenues of adventure and challenge to girls who want to spend their Guiding time enjoying Canada’s great outdoors. Trex isn’t for every girl, but it is for any girl who wants to test herself physically, mentally and emotionally, doing things she may not have had the opportunity to try before.

GirlSports (5-17+)
We know that girls want to be active and involved in real-life experiences. GirlSports is another opportunity for girls to have fun in bold, energetic activities with their friends. Teamwork is emphasized as girls learn to play by the rules, develop new skills, respect others and develop self-confidence while being active.
