Hats off to Lougheed Area's 1st Port Hammond Pathfinders: My daughter Kyra Mainer is a 1st Port Hammond Girl Guide. The 1st Port Hammond Pathfinders extended an invitation to the 1st Port Hammond Girl Guides to join them in assisting the senior citizens moving in to Bailey House adjacent to the Ridge Meadows Hospital. My daughter was the only Girl Guide of her unit able to attend, but was made to feel very welcome by the 1st Port Hammond Pathfinders. Kyra took both great pleasure and great pride in representing the Girl Guides of Canada in assisting these elderly people in moving in, and having a celebration on their new home. Kyra understood how important it was to make these very elderly people feel comfortable in their new homes, and how important it was to the Girl Guides as a whole that Kyra and the Pathfinders act in a caring and respectful way, for their actions reflect on the movement as a whole, not just on their own units. Hats off to the 1st Port Hammond Pathfinders not only for their own work, but for inviting the 1st Port Hammond Girl Guides along for this important community service.

Hats off to Unit Guider and Provincial PR Committee member Michelle McCormick. Michelle has been a leader for the past four years with the 50th Vancouver Guides. She revived a unit that had no members, starting with just one Guide and herself, and building from there. This year we are expecting 20+ girls! She has also been very involved in PR in Vancouver. She frequently dedicates all of her weekends to Guiding endeavors of one kind or another! Michelle took me under her wing when I joined as a Guider and has become both a mentor and a friend. She is leaving us to find more adventures in Texas... and we will miss her greatly! I want to wish her GOOD LUCK, and say thanks for her dedication to the girls and the Guiding movement. We'll miss you!

Jeanette Landry, Peace River Area, is dedicated to increasing our Area's donation to CWFF.
Jeanette holds a draw at every Area meeting (it costs a loonie a ticket) and the lucky winner goes home with a craft that Jeanette has put together - it might be a candy bouquet or a basket of goodies. She personally made the cutest yarn kittens and is selling them to Members with all proceeds going to CWFF. We're watching the temperature rise on her hand drawn thermometer as donations come in. Great job, Jeanette!
