EXPLORE BC

All-new adventure! Join us at EXPLORE in downtown Vancouver - Summer 2021

The Girl Guides of Canada – BC Council is excited to invite Girl Guide members, non-members, friends, families, and all those who are passionate about girl empowerment to EXPLORE in 2021. We are introducing a brand-new Girl Guide summer experience, which will be held from Thursday, August 26 to Sunday, August 29, 2021 in downtown Vancouver.

Are you an artist? Or an expert do-it-yourselfer? Do you love camping? Want to learn more about first aid? Are you into science? Or using your voice to push for change? At EXPLORE, you can discover all that and more, with activities and adventures built to fit our girl-driven Girls First program. Thousands of BC girls of all ages can join the fun, accompanied by supportive adult catalysts (Guiders, parents/guardians, or caregivers) and friends/family, with flexible options available for everyone to attend.

At the Vancouver Convention Centre, girls and adult allies will explore 60,000 sq ft of unique activities, hands-on experiments, interactive demos by experts, inspiring meet-and-greets with female role models and VIP guests, and memorable moments. Youth participants who attend will be in the driver’s seat to decide what they’ll explore and how they’ll explore it. Girls will be guided by their own sense of adventure as they discover our exciting and safe empowerment extravaganza. And adults who attend will have access to the same awesome experience alongside girls, plus bonus adult-focused opportunities for learning and networking!

Participants will have a blast at a special kick-off party in the heart of downtown Vancouver on Thursday evening (free and open to everyone), discover the EXPLORE expo all day on Friday and Saturday (ticketed) inside the East Building of the Convention Centre, and explore the city with optional add-on fun on Sunday, or head home to relax after a busy weekend of excitement.

Registration will open in late 2020 – stay tuned for more information by email. Are you excited? Want to start planning now? We will have two registration options to consider.

  1. Be part of the Full Experience for $150. This option includes three nights in a hotel/hostel from Thursday evening through Sunday and, if you are from outside of the Lower Mainland, includes transportation from your home community. The Full Experience is available for groups of BC girl members registered in Guides, Pathfinders, Rangers, Trex, and their Adult Guiders accompanying girls at a ratio of 1 adult to every 5-7 girls. This all-inclusive rate will be available to the first 800 qualified participants (as our accommodations are limited) who sign up - please register early when registration opens in Fall 2020 to avoid disappointment. The Full Experience fee is powered by Girl Guide cookies as we are offering a significant subsidy for BC members’ accommodations/transportation thanks to fabulous fundraising by Girl Guides across BC.
  2. Take advantage of a special Daytime Fun option for just $20/day on Friday and/or Saturday. Are you a Spark or Brownie, a girl or adult member of any age just looking to come for the day, a future member of Girl Guides who hasn’t had a chance to join Guiding yet, or a supportive friend or family member who isn’t part of GGC but wants to tag along and see what girl empowerment is all about? This option is for you! We recommend registering for both days – there will be TONS to see and explore each day, with special Friday-only and Saturday-only opportunities – but you are welcome to join us as your schedule permits. All minors under age 19 must be accompanied by a Guider, parent/guardian, caregiver, or other designated adult attendee age 19+.

Note: To allow for full flexibility, inclusion, and to keep the event fees as affordable as possible, both of the event registration options do not include any provided meals, which enables groups to decide their own food budget and choose local options that meet the dietary needs/preferences of their participants. Not sure where to eat near the event venue? Ahead of the event, we’ll recommend many local spots to grab breakfast, lunch, and dinner that are low-cost and tasty so your girls can plan ahead.

Stay tuned for more information by email from BC Girl Guides in the coming months.

We are excited to EXPLORE with you!
